As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I see this more and more now that I am the mother of three rambunctious boys. There are many, many people who will influence and help shape their lives. Thank goodness it is not all up to me!
I was thinking about this recently, and about all of the people, past and present, who have impacted my life deeply. God created us in His image (Genesis 1:27). And I see bits of that image in the people around me. We can see God in those around us. I want to appreciate the gift that these people are to me. And this is what has brought about “The Faithful Village”.
It all came together for me when I heard a song a friend, Micah Lother, had written. “Village Life”…
You’re my village in the mountains
Built upon the ancient stone
Set beside a wild river
Filled with stories of the souls
Who’ve journeyed here before
Your my field of golden bounty
Swaying gently with the breeze
Breathing in the sun
Drinking all the rain that comes
To feed the hungry ones
If I close my eyes
I can see you here with me
Here we meet in the middle
Here we live eternally
To be with you, is everything to me
The deepest desire of my heart is that someday I will be with God in eternity, and He will say to me, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21). I won’t be there alone. And I can’t get there on my own. I learn from the faithfulness of others. I benefit from the goodness of others. I discover how to make good choices from the wisdom of others. I become a giver through the generosity of others. I find courage through the strength of others. This is my Faithful Village.
The posts you will find here are in no particular order. I do not rank them more or less important. The fact is, I would not be who I am without them. So if you want a little encouragement, if you want to find the God-points in your life, come and visit the Faithful Village.
So, who is in your Faithful Village? Take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate them today.
